On 18 September 2024, the Department of Engineering Research Center, under the Deanship of R&D Centers at the Faculty of Engineering, hosted a one-day intensive workshop titled “Research SUCCESS: A Guide to Grants and Journal Publishing” at Dr. Nazim Hall.
The workshop attracted faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students eager to enhance their skills in securing research funding and publishing in prestigious international journals. The sessions were led by distinguished scholars and experts in the field of research and publication.
Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Ismaeil Hamarash kicked off the event with a detailed session on “Obtaining Funds,” where he shared valuable insights and strategies for successfully securing grants for research projects. His practical tips and real-world examples provided attendees with a robust framework to enhance their grant applications.
Dr. Karwan Mustafa Saeid followed with a compelling presentation on “Publishing in International Journals.” Dr. Saeid discussed the critical aspects of manuscript preparation, submission processes, and how to address reviewers’ comments effectively. His session highlighted important tactics for increasing the visibility and impact of research work.
The workshop concluded with a session by Assist. Prof. Dr. Halgurd S. Maghdid on “The Role of Data/Datasets in Research.” Dr. Maghdid emphasized the importance of data quality, the ethics of data usage, and the strategic role of data in enhancing research outcomes. His insights into data-driven research methodologies were particularly beneficial for attendees working in data-intensive disciplines.
