The Translation Lab was established in January 2026 under the Deanship of Research and Development Centers at Koya University, where it plays a strategic role in advancing the university’s mission in academic research and sustainable development. The primary function of the lab is to translate academic research written in languages other than English into English, as well as to provide professional proofreading services for research conducted in English to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to academic standards. The Translation Lab is led by Wafa Idrees Omar, a member of the Malay Gawra Center. She earned her B.A. in English Language Education from Koya University in 2020, followed by an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Koya University in 2025. Her research interests include Discourse Analysis, Political Discourse Analysis, Language Policy, and AI in Education.

Why is Research Conducted
The main responsibility of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, alongside higher education, is conducting research. And these researches are conducted in the universities and the aim of these research’s is to find a scientific solution for the society in.
Koya University within the framework of the second strategic plan of the college, has begun establishing the Directorate of Research Centers. and apparently the Malay Gawra center has been placed under the umbrella of this directorate center. Great importance is given to research because it makes things easier for researchers in collecting and organizing data, as well as interpreting research.
Who Conducts Research
The main scope of our center’s work is the Faculty of Education. Therefore, lecturers and specialists from different departments of the Faculty of Education conduct research with us, and we facilitate their work.
Mission
The Translation Unit aims to expand the reach of local research, whose publication is geographically limited. Through translation, these studies can reach the global research community, allowing for broader benefit and greater academic impact.
